Hi,
so when do PI's usually contact you for an NIH internship?
I have friends who have already gotten offers so I'm a bit nervous.
Have any of you been contacted yet? Or have you contacted any PI's?

I didn’t apply this year because I couldn’t get a teacher recommendation (I go to a huge school where my smallest class was 300ish). But I had my application all ready to submit and everything. And I think I remember past applicants saying that it would be good to email the PI’s before you even submit your app to let them know you’re interested in their lab and that you’re applying for that summer. The earlier the better. And that way, they know who to keep an eye out for when sorting through all the apps because they have to look through some sort of database to get to the applicant info.

You still could be contacted for a position though, but I would say it’s probably too late to contact any PI’s for the first time now.
