Nintendo's new console coming out in 2012

Linky: Nintendo to launch Wii replacement in 2012 - Apr. 25, 2011

Seems as though the Wii fad will be ending soon.

They are set the show off a playable version at E3 this year. Anyone excited? I haven't bought a Nintendo console since the N64; I am actually quite interested.

EDIT

From IGN:

" Multiple sources tell IGN the console - dubbed Project Cafe - will be "significantly more powerful" than the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, and be backwards compatible with current Wii software. The console will also utilize a new, tablet-shaped controller. Sources say it will have a 6-inch touch screen display, dual analog sticks, and has the ability to stream content directly from the console. "

LOL I still remember those days in 8th/9th grade when Wii Sports was the obsession and we couldn’t get over the fact that the motions of the remote would let us swing the tennis racket or baseball bat, lol.

Now, it’s all about COD for the PS3 and Xbox 360…

I wonder if they will go back to “normal” controllers.

EDIT: Just saw your edit, sounds like they are kind of moving in that direction but are also trying something original at the same time.
