Hello all, I just wanted to know about what I can do to get the grant back, I have paper work filled out and ready to be sent to my college. Just today I have provided the additional information as was requested. A few weeks back, I checked on my college account and saw that I was eligible to receive the grant but after checking my account recently, I was told that it was canceled. If I don’t get the grant again, what else can I do? Will calling HESAA help? Please help!
Yes I would ask your college and HESAA to find out why it was canceled and what to do.
Did you file FAFSA, did you use IRS data retrieval tool to import tax return information.
Was the income much higher than estimated, maybe your family made too much to qualify?
I have called my college and I was told to hand in a Verification Worksheet which I have completed and I will be mailing it tomorrow. I did file a Fafsa but I didn’t use IRS data retrieval tool, instead I will be sending a Tax Return Transcript for 2015 along with the verification worksheet. The thing is, I checked my college account and I saw that I was awarded $3500 per semester for the NJ TAG back in early July, about a week later I checked again and saw that it was canceled. The reason I didn’t use the data retrieval tool was because I was repeatedly told that there was some sort of error in whatever I was putting into as information which prevented me from using the tool.
