NJIT Honors vs. Rutger Newbrunswick

ok, I heard from people and looking at their website that NJIT offers really good aid that doesn't require amazing SAT scores like 2250+. I am pretty certain that I'll get ino the NJIT Honors College since they require a 1250+ for M +CR on SATs. I got a 1390 CR + M. I got into Rutgers University SAS already. I'm commuting, I would have to drive to Rutgers, but take a train to NJIT. i want to do go to medical school after.

but what worth going to: Rutgers New Brunswick SAS or NJIT Honors College w/ aid ranging from " $5000 per year up to full tuition, room, and board"? worth going to meaning I will have a great time(socially, and remember, I'm commuting) as well good academics?

Well I would think that Rutgers would have a bigger social atmosphere, so it might not be as hard to get involved in it if you were commuting. I’m not aware of NJIT at all though. But I would think that Rutgers would also have a better reputation that NJIT. Plus I think Rutgers has a program with UMDNJ? Not sure though. Haha sorry that was really vague but hopefully it helps!

NJIT is a terrible school.

haha @ everlastingwish, yeah jcdancer, i agree with the social aspect, but rutgers doesnt offer aid unless ur scores are good  u guys think at 2020 SAT Superscore, 3.65 UW, and 4.9 W GPA w/ 5 AP classes is good enough for ANY rutgers scholarship or the SAS honors program???

I’m not sure, I think if you look on the Rutgers website it should say somewhere what your stats need to be to be in the Honors program.

[Rutgers | Rutgers Admissions](http://admissions.rutgers.edu/Costs/Scholarships/FirstYearScholarships.aspx)
^Partial is around 1950 SAT and whatever they consider an ‘A-.’

as for specific honors programs…

Yeah, I’m not even going to touch NJIT’s site, sorry.

njit is very small so it would be much harder to get the college experience.

here at rutgers, i actually know a lot commuters who make friends by visiting their friends’ or classmates’ dorm floors.

Well… seeing as you’re looking for an amazing social life, NJIT is not the place to go, I suppose. You can find things to do if you make the effort of course. But academically, it’s been fine so far, and moneywise, it’s amazing. They gave me a full ride and extras for books, transport, and miscellaneous costs that came back to me in nice reimbursement checks. If you got into the honors college, they might offer you a room and board scholarship, if you were planning to commute because of cost.

NJIT sucks, just saying. I know some people who go there, and they absolutely hate it. I know other people who go there who are complete arses and became such BECAUSE of NJIT. Rutgers > NJIT. (I live right by both of them. Rutgers kids are much more intelligent and much happier than NJIT kids, or at least, that’s how it appears to me).

ALSO; since you said you’re commuting. This kid who happens to be an arse is a commuter student, and (when we were on speaking terms!) he confided that he absolutely HATED commuting to NJIT because it was incredibly stressful.
