NMH or Loomis or Taft ?

We will re-visit all but would like to have some comments from everybody?
Which school has better academic program?
Which has better golf team?

I think the reason nobody has responded to your post is because of a deeply held belief by many on these boards that "better" is a very relative thing, both in terms of academics and extra-curriculars.

Since your family will be going to the revisit days (at which you will have plenty of opportunity to meet with teachers, coaches, students and administrators), it would really be best to make your own determinations. As a veteran of 2 rounds of revisits, I can guarantee you that, if you keep your eyes and ears open, you will get all the information you need.

Enjoy them! They really can be fun.

You should check out the school's websites for info on their golf team, coaches, and course locations. I know NMH has their own 9-hole course....I don't know if they use this as their practice facility or not.

My son applied and was accepted at 2 of these schools. I believe that you can get a great education at all of the schools. The rest is about the "feel" of the school.

You can check their websites to see how their golf teams have done in the past.

We made a list of the things my son was looking for in a school...
formal/non formal
Saturday classes or not
location
types of classes
sports teams

That's all I can remember for now, but it helped direct us. You need to find a place that you want to call home for the next few years. Don't be swayed by prestige or name.

Good list warriorboy. Question: what do you mean by types of classes?

"types of classes" - I was referring to the fact that NMH has some classes that integrate subjects such as Physics/algebra or humanities instead of just English. also, some schools offer computer classes that others don't.

Loomis has connections with Harvard and some of their students spend a summer doing research.

They are all great schools. Dig a little deeper to see what feels right for you.

Golf team is very good at Taft (both girls and boys- most schools do not have separate teams). They have a beautiful golf course, which students can play on for fun as well as with the team (the kids go out in the spring on Sunday afternoons and play for fun).

Taft academics are great... you should go to revisits and decide which one you like the kids, and like the feel of the school. Have one at Taft and one who graduated from Deerfield, and I can honestly tell you that academically they both are incredibly impressive (very high standards from teachers, and dedicated students). I know many who are very happy at Loomis- and several of my son's grade school classmates did really well there and went on to some great colleges and loved it... I know less about NMH (but that means nothing- I'm sure it is very good too).
