NMH URGENT PLEASE HELP Northfield Mount Hermon School SSAT

HI, I am currently a freshman who is applying to NMH school but I got a 93 score for TOEFL and a 37 percentile in SSAT I have been getting straight A’s in almost all my school subjects but I don’t know just how badly the SSAT score will affect me. NMH is my only option and the only boarding school I have loved 100 percent. I do tennis as sports, and I went to see NMH in person and also did my interview there in person. I think my recommendations are good. Does anyone please know the awnser to any of these questions please help or just tell me how good you think my chances are. I am thinking about repeating the SSAT but I don’t even understand how bad a 37 is. If I am not mistaken NMH has a 65 for SSAT, so what happens if I apparently have lower than that? Could I still get accepted?

Description of SSAT:

NMH average percentile on SSAT is 73% (according to link below):

Conventional wisdom on range of scores accepted? I don’t know.

SSAT is only one component of an application. Maybe your TOEFL score also plays into evaluation of your SSAT?

I hope this helped, but I suspect it is information you already know.

Yes thank you very much. Although the minimum for TOEFL for NMH is actually 95 so I don’t know how much both of theese components together will affect me.

How low do you think my chances are with those two low scores? And does anyone know how many people apply to NMH for sophmore year in NMH?

If the minimum for TOEFL at NMH is 95 and yours is 93… I thought that if you didn’t meet the TOEFL minimum as an international student, your application gets thrown into the discard pile right away.

The admissions office at NMH and that’s about it since they do not release that data.

@skieurope‌ thanks

how good is your tennis? admission is getting tight each year in NMH. It 's tennis seems not so signaficance

Did you discuss your TOEFL score with them? If you did not meet the minimum I do not think you will be admitted unless they aid something else to you. And 37 on the SSAT is going to hurt you. Sorry to be direct, did you apply to other schools?

Why did you submit the SSAT score? You could have just submitted the TOEFL.

Because the SSAT is required on top of the TOEFL, since the TOEFL simply measured English proficiency.

TOEFL and SSAT measure different things. As mrnephew stated above, international students need to know how to speek gud inglish in order to be able to do anything in a US school. TOEFL is kind of a preliminary barrier that any international applicant will need to pass (if you can’t speak English decently, then how will you be able to understand anything in that school you’re applying to?). The SSAT only measures academic proficiency, as most applicants have already figured out.
