I know that there is a scholarship for PSAT. But say, you make cutoff on your state and become one of the semifinalists but NOT the finalists. What happen to you? Do you get anything?

no, not even the finalists are guaranteed anything.

If you are one of the semi-finalists for an NMS, you write it in CAPS on every scholarship, admissions, etc app you fill out!

If you are able to be a semi-finalist you are truly in elite company.

What exactly do you have the chance of getting if you're a finalist? I never really knew...

check the psat/nmsqt website

I thought every semi-finalist will receive $2500 automatically.
If you don't receive any scholarship money for taking the PSAT, what is worth?

Very few semifinalists fail to make it to the finalist level; I think the ones that don't usually messed up their applications. Not every finalist receives money from NMSC, but every single finalist will be offered huge amounts of money from various schools, and a number of top schools offer scholarships similar in size to those from the NMSC. In addition, there are a few corporate-sponsored scholarships to be had. So, in short, even if you don't receive NMSC money, a NM semifinalist has many advantages that most students do not have.
