<p>I am currently at Miami Dade College and will be a sophomore in the fall with around 34 credits. I applied as a transfer for the Spring Semester and have a current gpa of a 3.17. My ACT scores were a 20 and I had a 3.2 gpa in High School. Am i pretty much hopeless in getting admitted?</p>

<p>You might get in, but an AA Degree guarantees admission to the university, but not necessarily into the program of your choice. If you want to come to Orlando, what I might recommend is transferring to Valencia Community College and then over to UCF after you get your AA. If you transfer without your AA, it will be hard, in my opinion. A 3.2 GPA isn’t bad mind you, but I believe the GPA of UCF Students from High School is between a 3.7 - 3.8 and the ACT Score between 26 and 27. So, yes, I would recommend that you either complete your AA Degree down in Miami-Dade Community College or transfer to Valencia Community College and then to UCF. You have a better chance getting admitted with your AA Degree. I had fairly weak SAT scores and a high GPA and was encouraged by Admissions to complete my AA and then transfer on over. I was admitted and so far, I’m liking it.</p>
<p>I recently graduated from UCF (class of 2010!!). My younger brother applied for a transfer from UNF to UCF when he was a rising sophmore last year and UCF told him he was not accepted and to reapply AFTER he recieved his AA (he had a 3.8 GPA at the time, 30 ACT score, 3.2 hs gpa, tons of EC and Frat VP at UNF). If he couldnt get in without his AA, I dont think you would be able to 
but maybe (doesnt hurt to apply).</p>
<p>Just wait until you have your AA and then apply. I would not recommend moving to orlando just to go to Valencia Community College, like someone recommended (gross school!)… not to mention then you would have 3 sets of transcripts and that never looks good (especially if you ever plan to go to graduate school).</p>

<p>BCC has a direct transfer option after you receive your AA also…</p>
