I've just been to the U Penn thread, and there seems to be a Wharton Academic adviser there.
I've posted previously but NOONE replied, so I'm asking again--
are there absolutely no people related to Harvard admissions on this thread?
What about Byerly? Is he/she an adcom?
I've seen xjay, but he/she doesn't seems like an actual adcom, rather a Harvard student who participated in the process whose role was closer to that of an observer(though the information he/she provided was very helpful)
I'm curious, and if I could know who is related to Harvard admissions, I could ask questions :) (I promise I won't bombard you with chances questions)

There are several alumni interviewers here including Byerly, Hanna and me. We tend to respond to questions that are posted, particularly questions that are not "chances" posts, and that don't ask questions that are answered on Harvard's website, and that haven't been already answered a zillion times here (Hint: Check CC archives for the answers to questions that probably have been asked a lot).

There also are some undergrads, including one who, I believe, has worked in the admissions office.

In terms of PMs, I don't know about others' policies, but I don't read Harvard essays, and I don't act like a paid college consultant by giving personal advice through PM. I try to level the playing field by offering advice on the board.

I also tend not to answer questions that seem to be requesting basic reassurance such as "Is it OK for me to write my essay about what I learned in 9th grade English?" or requesting information about what activities students can do to "look good" to Harvard. The successful Harvard applicants use the application to show themselves as they are, and the people whom they happen to be are the type of people that Harvard happens to want.

Instead of trying to force oneself into a Harvard mold, look for a college that would appreciate you and accept you as you are.

thank you for the kind post :) Your post helped me a lot :D I'm knew to this
board and I thought posts by people like you, Northstarmom would be more insightful than some of the others. Thank you, and I'll keep your advice in mind. Actually, I already did apply, and I don't think I really forced myself into the Harvard mold, but I dearly hope that I'm a kind of student that they'd be looking for. Recently, I just got really interested in the admissions process, as an international, the whole admissions process is new and interesting. I'm getting to know more and more about Harvard, and I'm falling in love with it more and more. I really hope for a good outcome, though I perfectly understand that noone can have have a guranteed seat at Harvard.
Thank you once again :) and I really envy you for having had the opportunity to recieve the Harvard education and experience Harvard life.

Northstarmom's policy on PMs and on which threads she comments on is the policy that most of the undergraduates who post on this board have (myself, justforgetme, saxfreq1128, sunglasses, lowellbelle). I believe only WindCloudUltra is receptive to requests via PM.

I was able to give advice with applications via PM in the EA round for '11 apps, but considering the volume of responses, it took up too much time and energy from the other stuff I have to be doing in real life, and I don't think I will be able to do so in the future, mainly because the more I think about it, the more I agree with Northstarmom's post.

Yes, I'll still take PMs...but as those who have sent me stuff (questions/essays etc.) recently will notice, I'm rather slow at getting back at them simply because, well, I don't have much time either....
