According to the Yale Daily News noone, from Wyoming is matriculating to Yale for the class of 2013. So if you are an applicant from Wyoming make sure your "Why yale" essay is good, because I bet Wyoming is going to get a boost in admissions. Just a tip. Yale is amazing and I hope many of you apply and get in. GL :)

What about MA? Zero people from there too, right?

Thanks for the good luck though!

They didn’t say there had been no admits, just that there were no matriculating students. I’d presume they accepted at least one applicant from Wyoming.

I do recall that this year’s “Big Blue Marble” showed one state with zero admits. It was either Wyoming or one of the Dakotas.

Qualified applicants who come from underrepresented states have an advantage in admissions at selective schools. Geographic diversity is not a hook, but it’s a tip factor. I think the key is showing a diversity of life experience in your application.

I’m sure their admit from Wyoming chose to go to Harvard instead.

itsbeenreal–hahahahah. nice thought. there are probably like a bazillion of them.

reallly?? I thought they always admit at least 1 from each state. or are there just not any matriculating?

^^Nope. No guarantee that every state will be represented in any year’s list of admits. It all depends on the applicant pool.

Well I’m from Wyoming so let me pass on what I heard.

From Laramie High School in Laramie 2 students were admitted to Harvard 2013 and I think they are both going to attend. One of them actually wanted to University of Wyoming instead but his parents made him go to Harvard (boo hoo!). I love living in such a small state that I can hear about these things from halfway accross the state A girl from my school class of 2012 also was admitted to Yale and chose Harvard. I think so few kids are Ivy bound Harvard will snatch them up.

Looking to apply to Yale next year so I hope they want me! Geographic diversity woo!

My school performed the Laramie Project a few years ago…

It’s horrific that there is even an event to base the Laramie Project off of, but the performance was amazing.

They almost always admit at least one student per state. Of course, those students don’t always enroll.

In the last decade, Yale has missed states on a few occasions. Last year marked the first time in 6 years that not all 50 states were represented, however.

North Dakota (2001)

South Dakota (2000, 2002, 2008)

Wyoming (2008)

Woooow! that’s really really interesting…
