-3.1 is not horrible. Some colleges don’t even look at your freshmen year.
-No AP classes your sophomore year is normal. At my high school, you could only take AP US History your sophomore year and that was ONLY if you were in the honors program since 3rd grade.
-Do you know why you didn’t do as well as you liked freshmen year? It can make a big difference.
-Yes, your class rank is affected- but it isn’t necessarily done for.

Just work hard this year and do the best you can. Worry about junior year and college stuff when that time comes. Stressing about it now is going to make this year much more difficult than it has to be.

If you’re really worried as well, there are many options for online classes. Many offer AP and advanced classes. This would allow you to look more into some interests while getting AP credit–if you’re willing to work on the classes. You can take them during the school year or during summer as well. Maybe an option?

^ Like if you were to take Dual/Concurrent Credit classes? Those might as well be honors. I place them as higher than honors, as do colleges. AP/IB classes are the same way. If you managed to take classes at a community college or somewhere like that, those are also considered higher than honors.

Orchestrate a meeting with the principal, your parents, and yourself and talk about how you’re interested in challenging yourself and that you didn’t give a **** freshman year. They’ll just have you sign a waiver so you don’t complain if you should fail.

I took a Geometry final and Algebra 2 Final in my freshman year and they were easy as hell and it got me AP Calculus for freshman, so you should try overstating your understanding of the subject matter after reading the textbooks a bit and ask if you can take a test to prove it. All I said to them was that I learned Calculus on my own in Jr. High and they let me take the test the next day, but I skipped school until the weekend so I got about 100+ hours to study. See if that works for you.

It’s too late now too whine about your grades from last year, just pay attention and work hard in class this year. And try to maintain a good relationship with your teachers.
