can I get into Bowdoin if I don’t have any AP classes?

It really depends on your circumstances---if your school simply doesn't offer any APs, it's fine as long as you show you tried to challenge yourself in other ways. Let's say, take courses at a local college?

Oh, by the way, Honors Classes also show your rigor too!

thanks
I'm korean too. do you live around NYC?
I'm kinda worried that my ethnicity will hurt my chance of getting into Bowdoin.

If your school doesn't have APs, they don't penalize you. If you took the hardest classes at your school, your fine.

i'm korean three.

while being asian might hurt our chances of acceptance at colleges/universities with a large asian pop'n (e.g. MIT, NYU, Wellesley) , i think bowdoin likes asians since it has a reputation for being pretty white (correct me if i'm wrong, current students.) but this year the admissions process is more out of wack than usual. so who knows...

Hey there!

I'm half Korean---:) Well, I agree with verbivorous. I'm sure it's much more diverse now that even three years back. But still, it's not as diverse as desired. I don't think it'd necessarily "hurt" your chances because it's the same thing as saying being white will hurt your chances. It's only that under recruited minorities will have a benefit. If you have talent, a great personality, work hard, and do great in school, you're a good candidate, period. I HATE the fact that this year's admissions is wacky. silvercaliber, I do live in NY!

How is the college admissions process so whacky this year? Every year is different, that's the norm.

Well, I guess everyone's saying the admissions this year is wacky because we're all going to be applying at the height of the baby boom. There will be lots of competition---and that scares me outright.

yup, the competition is getting fiercer.

ok, I'm a white girl from New England. I kinda wish I was Korean lol
