No Awards/Honors

While I know it is only one section of most applications, how important is it?
I did not recieve National Merit blah blah blah.
And I dont have many real honors/awards: maybe National Honor Society, Selected as candidated for Rotary Student of the Month but havent won yet and got Most improved player one year in tennis. If you are great in all the parts of your app will this one area really hurt?

maybe just a little

the awards just show how much you have accomplished, if you can show that elsewhere, you should be fine

Yeah...I don't think everyone who gets accepted to great schools has awards. Where are you applying? I think awards work in your favor (maybe) but not having any doesn't mean you're not a strong applicant (as long as you show strength elsewhere). It's just another form of showing some accomplishment.

Some schools just don't give out awards. It happens. Not that big of a deal and you can't really do anything about it.

I guess if you really want you can just fill the space with random stuff you've got, like "participation" awards that are called "outstanding" blah blah blah. Recognized blah blah blah. If you just think back you probably have some stuff.

I'm in the same boat. Only have Honor Roll my school gives out to half the student population. But it's all I got.

Thanks guys. My school really doesnt give out these awards and I do think I filled up the other sections with some great stuff. So I hope that it will end up alright. Plus maybe I will win the youth of the month...that would be nice padding to my resume.
