Honors?

I need help with the awards and honors section of the common app. Can someone just tell me what level of recognition these awards are?

AP scholar
National Honor Society
High Honor Roll/Principal's Honor Roll
2nd place at a poetry slam (local library held the contest)

At my school there's virtually no opportunity for awards. Is this lack of awards really going to hurt me in the college admissions process?

i want to know this too

bump (10 char)

if you're applying to the most selective schools, nearly everyone is going to be in NHS and an AP Scholar. they probably wouldn't count for much, sorry to say. i don't think it's necessarily a weakness, but you'd have to work harder on some other aspects of your application to show the schools your passion/talent.

& yeah, i have this problem too. ):

I don't think lack of awards will keep you out of any school, as long as you have devoted EC's to balance it out. Colleges understand that many communities/schools are not award oriented.

okay, thanks for the reply.

can someone answer my original question? =]

Ap Scholar: Nat'l
The rest are school/local (which they lump into one category, right?)

National Honor Society isn't national?

No, you're considered for admission amongst your student body. I'm pretty sure it's local. Don't quote me on that, though.
