No bookstore = no software discounts?

If I need Windows, MATLAB, etc., is there any way to get a special discount through Amherst?

D buys her software through the school. It is MUCH cheaper. She isn't home right now, or she would give you the details. Just wanted you to know that it is possible and someone else can give you the details, andif not, I will have her post when she gets home.

Great, thank you!

Its' through IT (Information Technology). They will help you with fixing your computer, set it up, etc. They also sell the software. D bought something for only $10.00 last year.

Check out the Information Technology site.

https://cms.amherst.edu/people/offices/it/help/software/microsoft is where you can get Microsoft Products for super cheap ($10 for Office 2007, $15 for Vista Ultimate, etc.).

https://cms.amherst.edu/people/offices/it/help/software/available is the list of all the other available software. MATLAB is on the list.

A lot of programs are offered free through amherst local internet network called "scratch" once you're given an amherst account; this means you don't own the software, but will be able to use it for four years at amherst. It will be titled the "K:" drive, and you'll find out once you get to the school.

They've been doing a lot of work on the Amherst website lately so those links may not necessarily work.

you guys can also dl these programs from torrent sites for free....just a suggestion ;)
