No fun

In LOVE with VU, really really really love everything about it.... just starting to get nervous because of its nickname Villa-no-fun.... I know there are many other threads on this... I've spent a few hours looking up the reputation on Google as well. Most of the fun seems to be targeted towards upperclassmen. I was just wondering if any current freshmen had any input. Thanks all.

Tried to find the website from several years ago: villanofun.com/url but it doesn't seem to be around any more.

also ive heard many kids go home on the weekends… aka campus is basically empty fri-sun… True or not?

Nova is not a suitcase school. Sure some kids head home on random weekends , but almost all students are on campus for the entire semester.

The campus is dead early weekend mornings , because college students stay up late and sleep late ,and many of them are hung over.

As for “Villa-no-fun” topic , there is “partying” thu, fri , sat , but you have to look for it.

It’s No-Fun ,if you want it to be No-Fun.
It’s fun as long as you make an effort.
95 % of freshman return for soph year ,the social life can’t be that bad?

The nickname I hear most is “vanilla-nova”…just sayin’

it all depends on what you are use to…Villanova obviously won’t have as many parties as Penn state, temple, or nearby big public schools…a lot of students at nova have friends at these other schools and then think “villa no fun” because it is not as party central as these schools…Having been to parties at more academically focused schools like Upenn and Haverford, I have found the social life at Villanova, Penn, and haverford very similar…these campuses will have quiet weekends. That’s just the reality of highly competitive colleges.

Well, my D is always telling me she’s having a great time. We talk all the time and she’s never mentioned being bored or not having enough to do; quite the opposite, in fact. She’s very social though - lots of friends and activites.

Guess it comes down to your idea of “fun” which would be the case at any school you find yourself attending.

kids also definitely dont go home on the weekends. 80% of the school is out of state…most of students are from Massachusetts, Maryland, California, New York, and New Jersey. Definitely no students from mass, maryland, and california head home for the weekend…Even if students wanted to go home for the weekend they couldn’t because of the expense and time of long distance travel.
