No Idea if I'm even a realistic shot....chance me?

After looking through lots of great schools, I'd like to apply to Emory, ED or RD. Do I have a realistic shot? This is what I'm working with:

SAT- 2320 in a single setting (750 Reading, 790 Math, 780 Writing)
SAT II- 760-Bio E, 770- Math 2, 750- U.S History
ACT- 35 Composite (36 English, 35 Math, 34 Reading, 36 Science)
AP- 5's- US History, Language and Composition, World History
4's- Biology, Calc AB
3's- Calc BC (may not report)
PSAT- 221

GPA (3.5 Unweighted, 4.2 weighted) Low I know ;( (Struggled Freshman and Junior year, overextended myself)

I have also taken several courses through Cornell University Summer College obtaining a College transcript GPA of 4.3

I take a very competitive schedule, especially compared to my local peers, with my current year line up including AP Stat, AP Literature, AP Spanish, AP Psych, AP Govt. and Politics, and AP Chem

Extra Curriculars

Supervising Coordinator for Volunteer Program at Neo-Natal Intensive Care Unit (Methodist Hospital) (~1000 hours)
Job Shadowing at University of Nebraska Medical Center
Various Bio labs at my local college
Organic Chemistry through MIT Courseware
Team Captain for Varsity Debate Team (placed 6th in state at Public Forum)
Policy Debate Team (Cornell)
British Parliamentary Debate Team (Cornell)
National Honor Society
State Track (Discus, No medal)
Nebraska Boys State (2014 Speaker of House)
Various Internships (Loyd's of London local branch here)
National Merit Semi Finalist
Student Ambassador Republican Party of Nebraska

I come from a relatively small town in Nebraska, and I'm just trying to make myself stand out. It may be worth mentioning I can pay for my college in full, no need for scholarships (although they are nice).

Many thanks for the help guys!

Sadly, you have no chance whatsoever.

Ha ha. kidding. Feeling cynical tonight.

A full-pay kid from small-town Nebraska with a 35 on the ACT? Uh…bingo!

Will my GPA rule me out though? I’ve tried to overcome it with other stuff but thats what it is

I would bet money on you getting in, especially if you show promising grades this year (first quarter for ED or first semester for ED2/RD). If you do that, you’re a shoe-in.

Getting into main might be somewhat of a reach bc of the GPA but you might get into Oxford. GPA matters a lot. I know plenty of students at Oxford who had amazing SAT scores such as yours yet low GPA’s and didn’t get into the main. Bring your GPA up to a 3.8 and you definitely will get in! Good luck! :)

Apply ED2 so you can send in your seventh semester grades. That’ll help a lot if you do very well.

My son’s a freshman at Emory. His high school GPA was a shade under 3.5, albeit at a difficult private high school with much less grade inflation than most. His SAT’s superscored were 2340. His EC’s weren’t remotely close to yours in terms of breadth, quality, and/or leadership. Geographic diversity is also in your favor. How many kids from Nebraska does Emory attract?

I think that you have a very good chance, especially if you go ED. Make sure that your essays reflect the fact that you’ve done a lot of research into Emory and know what the school is about. Best of luck.
