I cannot find ANYWHERE that will offer me (currently a college soph.) a paid summer internship. I'm a finance major and am worried that not getting an internship before my junior year is going to kill my future internship/career opportunities. I just spoke with a guy on the phone who told me that you can't even get a job as a financial planner or investment banker right out of college. And even after you work a few years, it's ridiculously competitive....out of 90 people working at his firm and interested in i-banking only 5 went on to get i-banking jobs.
So basically i never realized how ridiculously competitive getting jobs in business was. Should i switch to an accounting major? Help?

times are tough in many industries that offer internships. My daughter spent her last semester interning along with approx 80 of her classmates ( various companies, not all in the same place ) out of the 80, only a couple have actually turned into actual jobs…just a few years ago , most of the internships at least had a job offer.
Oh , and none of the internships were paid …can you participate in an unpaid internship to boost your resume ?

I may be able to get an unpaid internship but i need money…I’m paying for college myself and have no way to get books or anything without summer money.
