Anyone else has not been contacted by Columbia for an interview? I'm getting worried that I won't get one.

yea i havent gotten one either- not even a phone interview- and i live in nyc.
i dont think interviews have much bearing on admissions anyway, but it would be nice to have one.

I haven’t been contacted either, and I live in a pretty heavily populated area also. But I was just contacted yesterday by someone from Yale, so there’s still hope!

I was thinking the same thing ! I contacted the admissions office and they said interviews are being conducted until late February…so there definitely is some hope still!

Haven’t received one either. From Cali region lmao

Just had mine today. There were SO many kids there it was ridiculous…they restricted interviews to only 20 minutes so we barely had time to talk about anything…

^where was this?

I still haven’t got one either and I live in the greater San Diego region. I know a lot of other kids that applied to Columbia that haven’t recieved an interview yet either. This goes for UPenn as well.

^ yup, didn’t receive an interview for upenn either xD

I applied ED back in October and I am getting my interview tomorrow (Atlanta). I don’t think you need to worry if you haven’t got contacted.

deep breaths - if we are able, we will try to reach out to you, but until then there is not much you can do besides keep up your classwork, if something awesome happens, you should let columbia know. and there are many students that get interviewed and denied, and many students who don’t get interviewed and are accepted.

best of luck.

-cu alum

If we haven’t been contacted does that mean the interviews are completely full? If not, when would be about the last date to receive contact for one?

if you haven’t been contacted it is just that the local alums haven’t gotten to your name, we go methodically through students as quickly as we can.

we have different dates to complete interviews based on seas or cc students, seas is pretty soon, cc is at the end of february. so that would be the case. i can say i have a couple students myself that i haven’t gotten to because i have work, but i’ll contact them later on this week, and hopefully can complete all of them before the deadlines.

WHO F***ing cares? How many times do people on CC have to reiterate that the interview is NOT required for admission. The interview is nowhere near what will get you in, LET IT GO

^Said the guy who wrote this:

touche. 10char.

Hartford (CT) Region.

Also, apparently the interviewer asked one of my friends “Why are manhole covers round?” Lol.

WTH, that’s exactly what I was talking about Iceui… I don’t have a problem with you being nervous about college apps, but GPA is WAY more important than an interview and could make or break you. You’ll be fine without an interview so there’s nothing to freak out about.

Basically, you have NO argument.

Touche… (XD such a cliche)

Around half the students (or so it seems) currently at Columbia, including yours truly, didn’t have interviews. Admissions says that those who are not offered interviews are not disadvantaged in the application process, and they’re right.

Also, manhole covers are round so that they never fall into the sewer. If they were square, then you could just twist the cover (so that a side is over the diagonal of the square hole, which is longer than the side of the square cover) and it would fall in. There, now you can get a job at Goldman Sachs.
