Is submitted my Preapp before December 1 and applied regular decision. However, I have not recieved an interview. I contacted the admissions coordinator through the email provided on the website but got no response. I also tried contacting my admissions officer and got no response. Has this happened to anybody else? What should I do?

You don't get an interview unless there is a local alumnus in your area. It either means that no one whose alma mater is Duke lives in your area, or the committee hasn't gotten to your application yet. If you start hallucinating because you are scared you will never get an interview and you will never get an advantage over others, sorry. That's life.

My son was admitted last year without having had the opportunity to interview. We live a bit off the beaten track for Duke alumni...lol

I was admitted this december under the ED plan and didn't have an interview either. I also live in the Silicon Valley and submitted my App well in advance and still didn't get one. I would guess it doesn't matter if you get one or not, so don't worry!:)

Does anybody know how important interviews are to the admissions process?

Interviews are for you to get info about Duke. The admissions office says interviews are not factored into admissions.

Even at schools who do consider interviews, it's not bad if you don't get one. Duke was the only school that offered me an interview, and I was accepted almost everywhere I applied.

"The admissions office says interviews are not factored into admissions. "

This is not accurate. Interviews are a factor in the admissions process at Duke, though they perform more of a supporting role than a primary role. They are particularly useful when the applicant is "on the bubble" -- that is, hovering between waitlist/admit or waitlist/deny. They can and do push you over the line.

maguo1 -- An interview is both evaluative and informative, and it's best to treat both aspects equally. Use the interview to figure out if Duke is the type of place you want to go to AND do your best to show Duke that you are the type of person they want in the freshman class.

Which email address did you use to contact Duke? Did you use "DukeAAAC@daa.duke.edu" and put "AAAC Interview" in the subject along with the other requested information? If you already followed all of the instructions on the following page and still haven't been contacted after a few days, I would call the admissions office.

I had a great interview today. Much better than my Penn and WUSTL interviews. I felt really great, the guy was nice, and he said he would say I was an excellent candidate. My UPenn interviewer didn't really listen to me. I said I was an identical twin 3 times before he picked up on it, asking "did you say you were an identical twin?"

I would love to go to Duke, but the money, IDK...

Congratulations on the good interview and good luck!

thanks gadgets
