No Interview?

Hi everyone! Before you jump the gun and tell me that Dartmouth doesn’t have alumni everywhere to interview everyone and that having one/not having one should not impact my chances (or so I’ve read on other threads…), please hear me out.
I live in New Hampshire, and I imagine that there are definitely alumni in my area. In fact, I know they are because my friend from my same school that applied to Dartmouth got invited for one. I, unfortunately, did not. Does this mean they are being seriously considered and I’ve been rejected? I had a big typo on my CA, so could they have chucked my application right out? I know that schools on Dartmouth’s level like Yale and Harvard interview everyone they can, so I was really just wondering. Thank you in advance for your response!

I promise I don’t believe that I am superman and was going to get in or anything, but I will admit this really stings. It’s silly to make an ivy league your dream school (and it isn’t), but it’s certainly my favorite out of all the colleges I applied to.

Hi! I’m an alumni interviewer and wanted to let you know that every year we are asked how many candidates we can handle interviewing for early and regular decision and how far we can travel, etc.

It is completely possible that:

  1. You just haven’t been assigned yet
  2. Your interviewer hasn’t contacted you yet
  3. Your friend got “lucky” and got an interview spot with your local interviewer and they just didn’t have enough spaces to accommodate everyone.

Keep in mind that just because there are alumni in the area, it doesn’t mean they do interviews. For instance, I usually do 10 interviews a year in my area, but this year had to recuse myself due to my son applying. That means unless another alum picks up the slack, there will be ten local kids that don’t get interviews that might have in any other year.

Best of luck to you in the process! It’s a great school!

@RoonilWazlib99 Thank you so much! I can sleep soundly now.
