Some people need a swift kick in the conscious when it's time to focus. Not Kyle Soloff of Morris Hills.

"Kyle is what you call intrinsically motivated," said Soloff's Advanced Placement history teacher, John Struck. "You never have to ask him to get work done; it'll get done."

Soloff has earned the right to call himself Daily Record Scholar-Athlete of the Week for wearing out his textbooks like he wears out his track shoes...

Congratulations on your acceptance, and self-discipline, Kyle!

Good kid, just ran a big personal best, very fast 3200 meter time (~2 miles) of 9:01 at the NJ State championship.

The kid behind him in the pic on the linked article is Tony Salvatore, also attending Princeton next year.

Hate to say this but working hard as an ethic is not big news these days for kids applying to HYPMS. Many have the same credentials and even more so.. sadly they are overlooked. Good luck however to this young man.

Wow, not sure you properly value Soloff's running, he is one of the best distance runners in the country, maybe a level down from superstars like Forys, Jager, Halll, etc.

I guess your post is a (not-so) veiled swipe at athletic recruiting? A kid like Soloff who performs at the very highest level in whatever he does helps make Princeton such a great school.

He'll do just fine without your backhanded good wishes.

"hate to say this...." ugh
