I was talking with some people who had recently been students on campus and they said there is no longer a shuttle from the airport to campus. How could a school this size not have airport transportation?

Oberlin does have an airport shuttle. My son uses it all the time.

Hmm has there been some change? This seems to say it’s an Oberlin shuttle using private contractors. When D1 was there I thought it was a regular county bus, that stopped in Oberlin.

I know at the time D1 tried to use it to go into Cleveland several times during the year, and found the schedules for the return trip were highly limiting, to the point where it was difficult to use it for that purpose. (though she still did it several times).Hopefully they’ve fixed this.

Edit: looking at that schedule it says last return trip to Oberlin leaves at 5pm, and weekend is by reservation only. Don’t know how that compares to when D1 attended, though I think it ran on weekends but with a yet earlier last return time. But if you want to go to a concert in Cleveland, you can’t get home this way, on weekdays, and I don’t know how the “reservation” thing works for weekends.

Better make friends with someone who has a car, if you plan to go to Cleveland much. Though if the “reservation” thing works well it might actually be pretty good, I don’t think D1 had that option, or maybe she didn’t know about it.

My son flies into Oberlin from the west coast and has had a shuttle pick him up every time. I love that shuttle! My oldest son, who goes to another liberal arts college in the east has to take and $85 cab to and from HIS college, argh!

They discontinued the county bus trip that would take students to the airport but there are other options available.

thanks
that must be what the admissions person was alluding to
