It seems that a recent budget cut has resulted in eliminating the bus route from Oberlin to the Cleveland Hopkins airport (which is also the point at which there are public transit routes to Cleveland) - I hope that doesn't mean that students will have to rely on taxis - the cost difference between the bus (about $5) and a cab (about $60) is significant. Does anyone know if Oberlin has plans to address this change?

I haven’t heard anything, but I really hope they figure it out before August 21 - otherwise I know where the $$ from my summer job is going…

In all seriousness, the College must have something in the works. They’re pretty proactive about transportation issues; it’s a big deal when you’re trying to attract students to a college surrounded by cornfields. This fall they started hiring private buses to supplement the LCT schedule around breaks, because the LCTs are often overwhelmed by mobs of students heading home. On the other hand, this is part of the reason Route 33 was cut - it never seemed to have that many passengers except around breaks, which is probably when it paid for itself… whoops. But the College tries. Hopefully they’ll be able to work out a deal with the LCT to keep things running.
