Since I live 13 hours from Oberlin, I can't visit. So, I'm wondering, what are the fastest mode of transportation to get to Oberlin * excluding airplanes* Is there a train that comes by? or is a bus easier?
I would love to attend this school, and distance is no problem to me. The only problem is transportation. Thanks!

Look on Amtrak’s website. There is, I believe, a train to Elyria, which is fairly close; or to Cleveland and then take a bus from the airport there. But that doesn’t sound very convenient.
Flying to Cleveland is generally the easiest way to get there; it is a hub for Continental airlines, but SW Airlines also flies there.

I think that prospective students should be aware that transportation has recently gotten more complicated. My son has loved Oberlin and we have been delighted to have him there, but I am glad the he is graduating this year. Since the county has discontinued the bus from Oberlin to the airport, it is very difficult to get anywhere accept at the beginning or end of the semester when the school runs its own buses to and from the airport. As we look to making flights home for the holidays, it is difficult to make plans as it looks like there will be no bus for January term folks - at least there is not anything currently listed on the website. So we are likely going to have to shell out big bucks for him to take a cab from the airport in early January unless he can find a friend with a car who will be there.

The lack of affordable transportation from Cleveland to Oberlin will end up being a deal breaker for many, I think.

There is regular shuttle bus service to and from the airport three times a day on weekdays (plus service by arrangement at other times) during the semester: see [Oberlin-CLE Airport Shuttles - Oberlin College](http://new.oberlin.edu/transportation/shuttles.dot) .

My assumption is that there will be service during Winter Term even though it hasn’t been announced on the website yet. You could call these people to find out: [Airport service, medical transport, school routes, private shuttle](http://www.airportoberlinshuttle.com/) .

check the transportation sites regularly, because Oberlin has been adding buses. There are also people who will drive individuals or groups of students at less than the cost of a taxi; then, there are friends with cars…
It is too bad that the transportation to Cleveland is so limited; for me, though, it would not be a deal-breaker.
There used to be a light rail type of transit from Oberlin back in the olden days.
