Somebody posted on one of the facebook groups that GW is cutting housekeeping to freshmen dorms this year and said they talked to someone in housing who provided them with this information. However, it's still listed as an amenity on their website and nobody has been notified of this change. Does anyone know the truth behind these rumors?

Its true- someone asked the question on the official GW Undergraduate Admissions page and GW responded that it was indeed cut. I can’t imagine it having ever been there in the first place! What all did that involve? Can 18 year olds not clean up after themselves??

As far as I know, the bathroom got cleaned once a week. Housekeeping was not responsible for picking up their rooms or trying to clean around all the stuff on the floor.

Housekeeping was nice since it meant we didn’t need to clean our own bathroom each week, but that essentially is all they did. They came and wiped down the bathroom and swept some of the floor once a week. The loss of housekeeping won’t be too much of a change for anyone who is already neat, but after seeing some of my guy friends’ bathrooms, I can see where it would be a necessity.

I don’t go to GW, but after having spent three years in college, I can say it would’ve been horrible not having housekeeping staff to clean the bathroom. Especially trying to determine who has to clean and how often on a large hall…

They have to have SOMEONE clean the bathrooms…I’m sure everyone doesn’t wipe the toilet seat with clorox after they go…that stuff builds up! There has to be a janitorial staff, unless the RA organizes cleaning parties or makes a roster for clean-up…military style :)

Bathrooms are in the rooms in most dorms & are only shared by 2-6 people.

yeah most bathrooms are shared only by 2-6 people like shellfell said…i can’t imagine they get that bad if people clean up after themselves. i’m not too concerned about the housekeeping being dropped.

Yea, I won’t complain either. I mean, I wish housekeeping was still available for us, but this just means we become more responsible, I guess.

the only thing ull miss about housekeeping was the free toilet paper
