No more orientation - what to do?

I did not manage to get any spots in the orientation sessions! What should I do know? I'm an international student.
Help me I'm freaking out!

I sell you my orientation spot for 91430 yen :)

Just give the Orientation people a call (or email if you prefer.)

There’s always a number of people who do not attend orientation for one reason or another (money, being too far, vacation, etc) , and you will generally get set up with your own appointment to enroll in classes and stuff.

Even so, there’s also a possibility that they can fit you into one of the sessions. A person in my orientation group said that he had a waaay later session, but because he was going to vacation during that time, he asked to move to an earlier session. (And they let him.)

two years ago, when my now soph dd tried to register for freshman orientation, all that was available was late Aug about 3 weeks before classes started – when we already had a family vacation planned.

When I called UCLA, they said you didn’t have to go to orientation, you could sign up for classes online instead and if we wanted to do it that way, we would be randomly assigned a date to do that (that we couldn’t change. . .the date could be earlier than the orientation date we had or later…luck of the draw).

So we did that instead and got a date in late July about 3 weeks earlier than the orientation date we had tentatively registered for. So it is possible to register for classes via online w/o going to the actual orientation. You don’t get the benefits of talking to the counselor about your schedule however you should be able to find 3 classes of General Ed to do for that first trimester.

…or just ask current students/UCLA grads about what to take. . . million threads about life @ ucla that’ll substitute for the actual orientation… unless you’re interested in making orientation-memories or sth
