what if you don't go to an orientation?

what is going to happend ? what do they usually do there? can you go later than july 27 or is there any orientation after July?

You sign up for classes at orientation, so if you don’t go to orientation, you sign up for classes in August. I don’t think there’s an orientation in August, and usually the classes left by then are really undesired. If you can, go to orientation because you’ll get better classes then those who didn’t go to orientation.

You sign up for classes, as already stated. You can also take placement tests for math, chem, physics, etc if you need those. Each department usually hosts a Q&A about the majors they offer and the requirements and GEs.

And you get your picture taken for your ID, although you won’t get the ID until you go back in September.

I would highly recommend going to orientation. And if you know what your major is, go to one of the meetings too. In my psych meeting, the lady gave us a code to be in the intro to psych class (which fills up VERY fast). Go to orientation…if you don’t you will be completely screwed on classes. Plus you’ll meet people :]

So i’ll be in ecuador for all of july volunteering down there so could my i send someone to register for me? Is that possible? Like my mom or something

Yeah that works. Just make sure all the classes you want are in your “shopping cart” so all your mom will have to do is just click register.

Uh, I’m pretty sure that your Mom cannot register you for your classes. I remember at my orientation they did not allow parents into the computer labs because I believe they wanted to avoid this. If you don’t go to orientation (it was mostly a very expensive lunch), you won’t get to sign up for classes, which wills screw you now that classes are hard to get into.

My son took his laptop last year to orientation and was able to log in from outside the computer lab at college 8 and register for classes. So Mom can do this. The problem is that many classes are closed. Be sure to have as many back ups as you can and have mom try to figure the best schedule for you. Otherwise you will have to wait until August.

^Ah, yes. Smart. So I suppose bringing a laptop with your classes in the shopping cart will work out fine.

If you don’t go to orientation than you’ll register for classes later than everyone else which can be horrible because you’ll probably get into classes that you didn’t want in the first place. Other than that nothing really happens if you don’t go.

@pinkvgirl Your mom won’t be able to go into the computer lab to register however if she brings a laptop than maybe she can register for classes for you as long as she does it within the allotted time slot.

Um when you sign up for orientation they give you a time, for example 2 pm that you can register for classes. It doesn’t even matter if you are on campus at that time or if its you whose doing it, it just means that you can at 2 pm be on a laptop anywhere and sign up for classes. So yes, mom can do it, and you don’t even have to be on campus. And you won’t get worse classes than someone who is on campus doing it themselves.

ohhhh thanks everyone :] so not everyone has to fly over to campus? I can just register at home online? that makes much more sense
