'No new students at UW Seattle this spring'

I am an in-state student, awaiting a response from UW Seattle. I stumbled across this article this morning, and it confirmed my beliefs that UW is accepting less students not only this spring, but for this fall 2009 undergraduate year.

A lot of students here in WA state have been hearing rumors about this, and this article confirmed it. -_-

Education | No new students at UW in Seattle this spring | Seattle Times Newspaper

What are your thoughts?

'The students essentially will be given three options: to keep their applications on ice for consideration in the fall; to attend the Bothell or Tacoma branch campuses, which are still accepting spring students; or to apply for a refund of their $55 application fee'

so the first option means will UW garantee the admission for fall quarter??? or will they review again the all accpeted applications for fall quarter??.

re-reviewed in fall. applications on ice is another wierd way of saying YOU JUST GOT ****ED AND FROZEN till fall.

wow... this just elevated my stress level by ten-fold.

Crap.

I better start on my other apps...

not surprised, UW is already over its limit.

Yeah, sorry guys to just spring this up on you....but gah, I don't even know anymore.

Most of the kids in my high school here in-state are using WWU (Western WA Univ) as our back-up -_-

It does make since, UW is expected to lose aprox 100 million dollars because of the recession. They are currently trying to cut costs in any way, depending on what your degree is the UWB and UWT might work well for you but not always. WWU is considered to be a great school some rate it higher then WSU but it is up in the air on which is better.
