No No NSO-(can't make it)

My S will be working at a camp in Indianapolis all summer and can not make any of the NSO dates- he is working from June 4th- Aug 8. Does anybody in the land of CC know what happens if you can't make the orientation? Do you register for classes online? By Phone? thanks for your wisdom.

NSO is mandatory for all students. If unable to attend Email “newstudentorientation@udel.edu” for further instructions. This was take from the UD website for NSO.

My DD was working at a camp out of state also – but the camp knows that they’ve got a lot of new freshman who will have to go to orientations so they make arrangements. There are certain dates they can’t leave, but it was possible. Are you sure your DS can’t go at all?

It was really hard for us - I drove from NY (Long Island) to Massachesetts to get her, then to UD (stayed overnight) - went to NSO - then drove to Ft. Lee, NJ (stayed overnight) - early in the am drove back to Mass. then drove home. And this is after I came home a day early from a biz trip (Houston). It was insane and exhausting but it had to be done.

If he can’t get out of camp for a couple of days, definitely call UD.

PS - She had to be at camp before HS was even over! So I went up to pick her up for prom and then again to pick her up for graduation! NSO was the third time I had to pick her up… The miles on my car…

I’m wondering if anyone else has had difficulty being assigned an alternate NSO date. My D was given only one date for NSO in late July (I guess because her major is small??); however, she is going to be out of the country on a service/missions trip for the entire month of July. We immediately contacted UD Honors (that is the procedure for students in honors), requested a date in June and were told they would get back to us. That was about two weeks ago. We have checked back by phone and email periodically, still with no date. The first time around the office was very pleasant, but they seem less than thrilled to hear from us on the follow-up requests. Would like to get this ironed out so I can arrange day off work, possibly book hotel, etc. Any tips?

My S can not make any of the NSO dates, we emailed and we received a prompt reply that someone would be contacting my S to try to advise him by email later in the summer. We did not try to reschedule his NSO - so I guess that doesn’t help you - sorry!

My D also had a conflict and could not attend any of her assigned NSO dates. She sent an email with the date she preferred to attend and recieved a response immediately. The only problem is that they have not told us how to register…they are checking into it and will let us know…hopefully soon.
