I scored a 224 on the PSAT, and my counselor seemed to think I'd get reasonably far in the competition. I was under the impression that we were supposed to receive notification of being one of the 50,000 high scorers back in April, and that never came. I'm waiting to see if by some miracle I'm a semifinalist, but my counselor hasn't heard anything. The semifinalist cutoff for Colorado is 212, so shouldn't I get it? If I didn't hear anything in April, does that mean I'm out of the competition? I'm applying to a school early decision, and the only reason I haven't submitted my application is because I'm waiting to hear from National Merit, in case I have an extra academic award to add. Any input?

You should call NM and ask directly.

Wait til Wednesday, then call National Merit. I don’t think they will tell you anything today.

Olena–I think you can call today and ask about the fact that you didn’t get any notification in connection with the 50,000 students on the list of top scorers. They should definitely be able to answer that question today.
