No one contacted me for an interview...

I'm applying RD, and I sent in my interview request well before the Dec 1 deadline, but no one has contacted me yet. Should I call the admissions office?

I would, if I were you. Just to reassure you--if you're not local, they might be still working out an alumni interviewer.

Call them…
do you have the name of the Admission Rep for your area? …if not this is a good time to get it and become acquainted with the Admission rep…

Call……. there is no down side to calling

Yeah, I met her at a rep visit. I'm going to call today.

Aren't Swarthmore interviews over? I called last week and they were completely booked, so I couldn't get an interview. :/

I scheduled an alumni interview, so it might be different, but it definitely took them about three weeks to mail the information to me. I freaked a little, but it turned out okay. I dunno about admissions interviews though.

BTW just to update: I had my interview about a week or so ago. My interviewer was very strange and really turned me off on Swarthmore. It's now way down on my list. He said "Swarthmore students aren't leaders...they're not the CEOs or the presidents" and "they don't really change the world," and other negative things about the school. When I mentioned a Swarthmore grad whom I admire, he was like "oh, he doesn't donate very much to the school." WHAT? How would he know? He also repeatedly put me down with comments about how I went to an all-girls school...

Can anyone reassure me that Swarthmore students aren't bitter like this guy? I know a couple people who were accepted early there, and they're awesome, but what about current students? I have to admit I haven't visited yet... I'm not going til February :)

Both of my friends that are going to Swat are still really in love with Swat and they're two of the most fun people I've ever met. Two very nice people.

Your interviewer sounds like a nutcase. Who would say that Swatties aren't leaders? Dukakis was a Swat graduate... that's the first one I think of. Okay, so he didn't get the presidency but that's only because his name has too many syllables and vowels, haha.

Sure, there are definitely some bitter students- mostly the kind that don't really enjoy learning but went anyway and then discovered it wasn't for them... The workload there can do that. But they make up a minority.

VISIT. Do an overnighter- mine was amazing! You'll get more of a feel for the school that way.

There are plenty of bitter students, but also tons of non bitter ones. :) I love Swat, and lots of people I know love being at Swat too...I definitely second staying over. Most student hosts love Swat and love prospective students, so you should get a better perspective. If you do a tour, you might get me! Haha.
