No one posts here, that's kind of sad. I'm interested in going to JMU, waiting for RD. anyone got anything to talk about please post something...

hmmm...I know zip about this school except it's in Virginia. Hmmm, well why are you applying to JMU g17mike?

Yay, people are finally posting on the JMU thread! I also applied to the school, regular decision. Really hoping to get accepted because it is the one reach I feel I actually have a shot at...there's not much to say about the school. as celebrian mentioned, it's a VA public- a good one, i might add, and for a good price. about 30% of students are out-of-staters, so it's reputation as a good school is increasing and spreading. Nice campus, boring town, not much diversity (85% white). anything else anyone want to add?...celebrian, i'm curious, what drew you to this thread, since you're obviously not applying?

he probably searched for threads i'd posted in, cuz i've been posting like a mad dog all day... JMU is awesome... beautiful campus, very very hot chicks......need i say more?

I got accepted to EA (woo hoo!!)

JMU is getting indeed popular, and its reputation is getting better and better.

My own aunt graduated from JMU with degree in chemistry, and earns $80,000/yr. She's only 28, btw. No grad..ph.d...nothing.

Great school!!

Well, that's encouraging to hear. I'd honestly be satisfied with that amount as my peak income.

Hot chicks, eh? Didn't know that...

oh, and how rude of me: congrats, hhboyji

what are your stats? just curious...

I like to post everywhere, anytime I see a title I'm drawn to, I post. I like to know about every college my cc'ers are applying to, whether it's hyps or a fourth tier. What drew you in to jmu guys (girls)?

the main reason i'm applying to JMU is because I'm (hopefully) a VA resident. i mean, if you're a VA resident, i see no reason why you should look outside of the state. there are a range of excellent schools here. it is easily right up there with CA as being home to one of the best public school systems in the country.

halfwayinthebox-

well, my stats weren't amazing :(

28 ACT, 3.8 GPA, 23/360 Rank.. Good essay..fantastic rec.. VERY VERY GOOD EC (my only hook lol)... 10 IB/AP courses by graduation.. BLAH

JMU is a very good, well-respeced public school. Good tuition and great education. I have to agree it's not that diverse, however the population is not racially segregated if you know what I mean lol

Known to party hard (based on what I've heard) and study hard.

It's all good

they may not be amazing compared to those of other CC members, but for JMU, that's pretty impressive. the act score, i think, is equivelant to what, a 1270? 1280? on the sat. That's above the middle 50%. your GPA is above average. And you definitely challenged yourself with the school work. 10 IB/APs?!!! Wow. You must've also applied to UVA, eh?

i'd have to agree with everything you said about the school.

virginia does have a great public system. I think the UC's are overrated. I mean, yes they're really great schools, but they're not the only good state system out there. Ohio on the other hand has a kind of sucky system, but what are you gonna do?

now if i were living in ohio, i'd definitely leave the state, no matter how good/bad the system. I hate the midwest...

but back to to JMU :)

I applied to JMU too and visited it during a rainy weekend ( blEH) but i still found it beautiful and well overall i liked it. I applied for the ISAT program, can anyone tell me more about it at a personal level i guess? Oh yeah and is it true there are no air conditioners in the dorms?! (O.o) lol

I don't know much about the ISAT program itself, but from what I've heard, it's relatively new at JMU and is considered one of JMU's better programs. In fact, when I visited the school last summer, I remember a lot of faculty and students praising it.

my son attends jmu (sophomore) and he loves it (probably too much for my liking). he lived in an air conditioned dorm as a freshman but it was one of the few dorms with air conditioning. i know he feels his classes are challenging. he feels the food is very good and he feels the social life is great. we are from new york and he knew no one when he arrived at jmu. i really can't comment on the isat program.

which dorm was that? :}

he lived in bell hall
