No One Will Clap For Me At Graduation

Does anyone else have this fear?

This one kid did, and made a thread about it.

… I feel like it was probably HopefulEagle

It was. I should probably not have remembered that
http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/high-school-life/869340-no-class-people.html

Hahaha why give a ****? You never have to see those people again.

No one probably will clap for me, as I won’t have much family there and while I have a lot of friends I don’t know their families very well, but I really don’t care. I just want to walk across that stage to freedom from mandatory learning. I want to learn for myself, not for a diploma. Can’t wait for college.

I’m scared about that also. And you never know, you may see them again.

It’s scary that you guys would have nobody clapping for you. You do realize it’s possible to be smart and have people like you, right?

Everyday a star is born… Clap for him clap for him clap for him, hey

They gonna be ****ing screaming my name when it’s called.

^^I doubt that anyone here will have no one clapping for them. CCers just enjoy worrying about this stuff.

^^yea of course. But its always a fear of mine. I had that fear at my middle school graduation, but everyone clapped. But only because it was a tiny middle school. I’m scarred now because my HS is very “me” like and won’t care to much about others success.

I will clap for you

I’ll clap for myself.

^^Good news then b/c nobody will be clapped for (you won’t be singled out)!

I don’t think we’re allowed to clap after each name is called…there’s almost 500 people in my class. That would be way too much clapping.
This is a good thing, since I’d only have like 3 people clapping for me  (the 3 family members who will be there)

…I thought at most high schools you weren’t really supposed to clap for each individual person because so many were graduating…

At least the local high school did that. They had a class of over 600 and said that if you clapped you would be escorted out… (which, I did, in fact, see people being escorted out. XD) There were so many students that they had two people calling out names… One would say about 50. Then the other would say about 50 and then they continued on like that.

It’s not like that at my graduation though because there’s only 43 of us and we each individually go up…

Yea, clapping isn’t usually allowed at my school’s graduation ceremony, but people do it anyway. It’s kind of unfair because some people miss their name being called.

The school board will clap for you.

I think by “nobody” the OP means that it will be quieter than for most people. And yes I understand people will probably clap for me, but I’m thinking that mine will be much quieter than the ones where there is an explosion of cheering and screaming because the guy is so popular.

I’m friends with virtually everyone I know (don’t really have any enemies), but I’m not really close with many of them so I don’t really expect them or their families to clap. haha

As I said, though, I don’t care either.

Last year, a girl got caught rolling at Disney Land on Grad Night and almost got our school banned. People booed her when she walked (yes, my principal let her walk after that). I think you’ll be fine.

My school makes everyone clap at the end just to get through all the names. The families who interrupt with fog horns or “YEAH INSERT NAME!” are funny for a bit, and then everyone just gets annoyed at them. And their kids.

you should write about that at Help.com
