I have this fear BIG time!! Like if my school honors me for anything I am freaked people aren’t going to clap for me… :/

I never thought about this until I came here…

^Same here.

I go to a public school, and there were people passing out mini-Bibles to students as they drove out of the parking lot one day.

They can do that but teachers can only have a Holiday Tree? Like really?

^Were the people affiliated with the school? If not, that’s not really hypocritical.

I didn’t say it was hypocritical necessarily (I know it was implied, but still ;P), but no they weren’t. Nevertheless, I don’t see how that’s allowed when you can’t even refer to something as a Christmas Tree rather than a Holiday Tree. I mean, for one thing, only Christmas uses a tree like that so it’s kind of obvious. And for another thing, I guarantee you there would be complaints like crazy if those people were handing out copies of the Koran.

No, you just don’t come up for it.

It’s just not the tradition here, besides gets very tedious after the first 10, right?

At our graduation they gave us diploma holders as we crossed the stage. Official diplomas were mailed later. Mine arrived bent -_-

@ThisCouldBeHeavn Same with my school, except that we get it at a senior party thing later xD.

But… liberal in South Carolina ≠ liberal in CA, I would think…

Our class is >600. They read everyone’s name by homeroom, and then you can clap for the homeroom I think. It takes like 3 hours. Ew. Also, my homeroom teacher is a language teacher and a non-native English speaker with a terrible accent. In other words, she will mangle my name when she calls it at graduation. :(

^Maybe perhaps not… But like I said, it’s a lot of transplants. They’re bringing their ideas from other places. I, personally, sometimes feel really weird being a conservative Christian type, when all of my closest friends are liberal, and most of them aren’t religious at all.

I think Obama won the election at my school and I’m pretty sure race didn’t play into factor at all, because I think there’s one black student in my high school? I mean… I guess everyone else could have voted for him because he’s black… but that wasn’t my impression after talking to many. I actually got heckled for viewpoint the day after election when I was walking to one of my classes. Some jerk senior decided that he should bother me, because I didn’t vote the way he did. =/ Made me want to go cry in a corner.

But that sucks that your name will get killed. But think of it this way… At least there won’t be ample opportunity for you to like trip or faint or something… I kind of don’t want to go up there all by myself with everyone staring at me. facepalm
