I read on NU's website and in the housing brochure that pets aren't allowed in the residence halls.

Does this mean absolutely no pets? At all? Like, not even a measly little beta fish that lives in a tiny tank that doesn't even need a water filter?

The policy is no pets at all. Most CA’s are somewhat flexible, however.

Ask the Housing Dept if you can bring a tank with fish. You definitely cannot bring a dog, cat, or small animal like a gerbil and rabbit.

I’m telling you the policy is NO pets. The rational behind fish is 1) What if it breaks? 2) What if you forget to attend to its feeding over break. Both of those things have happened, and so no fish.

That said, my friend has an adorable Beta fish. So while its officially no pets of any kind, its sort of like no microwaves, no bed risers, and no alcohol.

Okay, thanks a lot guys! I guess I’ll see if I can get away with bring a beta fish then, and hope that my CA isn’t too strict.
