So my guidance counselor just confirmed with me that my high school doesn't rank, due to it being unfair to students, because they might have above 4.0 GPA's (on a 5.0 scale) and still be in the 100's. Now my question is this: How will colleges differentiate between students if they can't tell the rank? How will they understand the rigor of the school if they can't see whether an unweighted 3.8 is impressive or not? Every school is different, and how will colleges see this?!? Thank you, and make it a beautiful day.

Your school probably has a profile sheet. Ask your guidance office personnel whether you may have a copy. The sheet will describe your school and tell about how many students go to college, average SAT scores, AP results, etc. Additionally, colleges have regional admissions reps who are familiar with the schools in the region. They know the good schools.
