Is that going to hurt my chances in going into a top 25 school? I didn't take any science classes senior year because there were none that interested me and I have already taken AP Physics C, AP Chemistry, AP Environmental Science, and all first year courses of physics, chem, and bio. So will those science classes that I have already taken make up for the lack of a science class senior year?

Have you taken the most “rigorous science courses available” at your HS? Did you get scores of 4 or 5 on your AP science tests? If the answer is “yes” to those questions, then, unless you are planning on applying as a science major, you should relax. If NOT, and if you are applying to colleges that specifically “recommend”[ i.e.require] 4 years of science classes, then you may have to rethink your HS schedule.

^ Well he’s already has had 4 years hasn’t he? Doesn’t 4 years just mean 4 credits of sceicne (assuming 1 credit = a full year course)?

^^^^^Again, if he is applying to a TOP 25 college, then he is up against thousands of other students trying to get into the same college, including those who have taken more AP science classes. If he could take more science classes[ as his post suggests] but chose not to, and thus his counselor might NOT say that he has taken “the most rigorous courses offered” on his recommendation letter, then he MAY want to reconsider and take a Sr year class in science. Taking a less “rigorous” level of classes in SR year, than during Jr year, is not a good idea when applying to the most selective colleges, unless you have already taken the hardest courses offered.

I didn’t take a science course my senior year. I TA’ed for a Biology class, but that was it. I never took Physics and people said it would hurt my application. In the end, they are NOT going to notice the minute details of your transcript and hold it against you. They will give your transcript a few glances at best, and see what your counselor had to say regarding your course rigor.
