No signs of improving on SAT or ACT

I've been studying day in and day out for some time now, and I'm not showing any signs of improvement.

My SAT score is stuck at 1500, and ACT is stuck at 22.

I have an online course, and all the right SAT books, but I just can't seem to get better.

It's so beyond frustrating. I shouldn't have to work my butt off for a 1500. I'm strong in reading and writing, and yet I'm getting a 550 in both, and a 400 something in math usually. But I'm ok with that, I'm not very good at math. The reading/writing is inexcusable though.

Any advice/help would be greatly appreciated.

If you really knew your grammar rules for writing, you wouldn’t get 550. If you have The Ultimate Grammar Guide by Erica Meltzer, read (or reread) it thoroughly. Then take another practice test. Whatever you get wrong - review the mistake - ask yourself, What KIND of mistake is this*? and how can I make sure it never happens again? answer those two questions every for every wrong answer.

*by KIND of mistake, I mean like Parallelism, Pronoun Case/Reference, Agreement stuff etc. and not really Identifying Errors, Improving Sentences, Improving Paragraphs etc (although knowing this could help too)

You can even go a step further! For every right answer, try and explain why you got it correct, as if you were a teacher. See if your explanation matched the answer key(BB answer keys are available online), if it did … good. If not…why? Make sure that 1) you don’t make the same error and 2) make sure that next time you will get the question correct for the right reasons!

This is essentially all I did to go from 530 → 730 - 780 in two weeks(haven’t quite snagged the 800 just yet) (Scores are the MC score with a “0” at the end) (and these are practice test scores)

What about critical reading?

You should change the way how you approach questions. It helps
