...No sophomore standing as of yet?

I'm supposed to have ~28 credits transferred for my high school work and it's not updated yet. :/ I'm kind of iffy because telebears is drawing near and a lot of the classes I want to take are sophomore standing and up.

Just wondering whether this is common for L&S? :/ I'm going down to Sproul Hall to ask the registrar about it anyway, but does anyone else not have their high school credits in the system yet?

They’re a bit slow on that. I got mine about 1-2 weeks ago while my roommate got hers over a month ago. You need 30 units to have sophomore standing though, so I wouldn’t worry too much.

I didn’t get transferable credits until December. Give it some time.

how do you check

I’m not sure whether it’s 28/30, and…are your units this semester counted as well? I’m just worried that telebears will restrict me from signing up for classes which require a sophomore standing because they haven’t updated my credits yet.

daynnight: You go on Bearfacts and check your Personal Profile to see what year you are. I believe if you go to ‘All Grades’ under Academic Records, you should also see ‘SEMESTER CREDITS COMPLETED’ which will probably also include credits transferred…someone correct me if I’ve been looking in the wrong place all along.

Try DARS. My credits show up under “academic history by semester” but don’t show on BearFacts.

It’s a sad news for those who racked up many transferable units in high school, but you don’t get a bump in telebears appointment date until the next fall if you don’t see the units on bearfacts right now.

YES!! I have sophomore standing! wooott

i’m still a freshman even though i should be a second semester junior w/ AP/IB/CC credit :frowning:
does this mean i get a really bad telebears appointment??

what! that’s nuts. how are u in junior standing?! that’s pretty cool though lol What are you going to do? double major or graduate early?

yeah i had more than 80 units coming into berkeley… i’m gonna double major in business/econ.
but this might really screw up my intended schedule if i can’t get a good telebears!!!

So if my son has his units on BearFacts and is a second semester sophomore, he should have a good telebears time? He told me he got November 2nd. That doesn’t seem like a good time, or is it? If not, what happened? Just curious…

ouch i got november 2nd and if i include the units from this semester, i’d be a first semester senior…
what the **** telebears. messing with the freshmen…

I don’t even care about my telebears date now, sigh. I just need my sophomore standing to get into the classes I need, eugh. I went down to the Undergrad Office to ask them about it and typically, they didn’t have an answer…

I’m not sure how it works with credits from community college, but I’ve read that just because you have enough AP/IB credits to be a freshman with sophomore/junior standing, that doesn’t mean you’re going to get a telebears time with the sophomores or juniors. It just means that, within the week that freshman telebears times take place, you will be at the beginning of the week, before freshmen that have less AP credits than you or no AP credits at all.

so we start signing up for classes THIS early? OMG I GOT NOV 1st too! Idk if that’s good but I can’t believe we’re starting sign ups right NOW!

Since I am procrastinating from studying for Latin 116, I will explain this for you

Your UC and CC units (and probably any CSU units one might have) for your non-AP level. You’re non-AP level determines, which “week” your TeleBEARS is in (I use week in the weakest way (no pun intended), as it may not be a whole (school)week, it could just be 4/- days).

Your overall unit total (which includes AP/IB units) determines where in that “week” your appointment is. Lots of units will push your appointment to the front of that “week”, too few will keep you in the back

Does anyone know which day is the first day of the freshman “week” for this semester’s Phase I? I got November 1, which is probably pretty late…

Oh, I actually get that. What I meant is, the class I want to take is restricted to sophomore standing and above, so if you are a freshman, telebears will block you from enrolling/waitlisting the class even if it’s not full. :c So I don’t actually need the sophomore standing for my telebears date, I need it because of course restrictions.

But thanks for explaining the whole issue of how your telebears appt date goes, haha

Wait so all the freshman that got telebears times on Nov 1st before me (Nov 2nd) have more units than me? 54.5 AP credits, 20 IB credits, 8 community college credits, and 15 first semester credits?

Oh my god, you guys are freaking ridiculously smart…
