My goal is after college to be admitted to an advanced standing Master of Social Work program, and the school I've always wanted to go to is UNC Chapel Hill, due to it's strong reputation and how much I like the school. In order to get admitted to their MSW advanced standing program, you have to have a Bachelor's of Social Work. Fine, I'd like to take that anyways. But so far as I can tell from their website, Chapel Hill doesn't allow you to major in social work as an undergraduate. So is the UNC School of Social Work essentially saying that they automatically won't accept their own university's students to the Advanced Standing Program, or am I making a mistake?

1) UNC-Chapel Hill does not have an undergraduate BSW program.

2) In order to get into the advanced standing track of the UNC-Chapel Hill MSW program, you need to have a BSW from an accredited program.

3) Since you cannot get a BSW from UNC-Chapel Hill, it stands to reason that no, you cannot get into the advanced standing program from UNC-CH. You would have to go somewhere else and major in social work as an undergrad. So yes, automatically they don’t accept their own students.

Why is the advanced standing so important to you?

Correct.

The Advanced Standing program is half the time of the regular MSW and the reason for that is the Uni requires that you have already completed several SW courses.
