I know very little about college admissions however from just reading an excerpt of your life I can tell that you have a lot of potential and UCB would be stupid not to accept.

I would work on being a high-scorer on the SAT (I didn’t see a score anywhere), and also whip out a fabulous application essay implementing all the info that you listed here.

I agree to work hard on those essays! But, you have a great topic so that should be pretty easy. You don’t have many ECs (hospital volunteering is a bit too general), but if you work on your essays you should be fine! UC Berekely is very big on their personal statements! My friend applied last year and got in (with very few ECs, also only hospital volunteering), but then again she was a valedictorian… Good luck! :)

My stats are similar to yours though, so please chance me??

You have a great chance! Your standardized testing scores and ecs are great! Your gpa… is holding you back a bit… but as long as you make up for it through teacher recs and essays… you’ll be fine! Best of luck and chance me back! (:

you have a great!!! chance! how ever your personal statement is a little cliche make sure it is exactly what you want to send to the admission officers! Bonne Chance!

I think you have a fantastic chance! I’m so sorry to hear about your parents. Congratulations on still achieving as much as you have, that takes a real strength of character. As a California resident and first generation applicant, your chances go up. Emphasize the fact that you have taken as many advanced courses as you can. Chance me back :)

your essay will get you in to most top schools.
Push for Cornell or Penn SEAS you might just get in.
Dont let that GPA get you down, we all have our weaknesses.
UCB - a low reach for you.

Be really, really careful about your personal statement. I have a friend whose mom has MS and he was going to write about it, but then a college consultant told us that it’s not always best to do that. He advised that my friend write about that but be sure to place emphasis on how the challenge of taking care of his mom has shaped him as a person. Make sure you do the same!

Your stats really are great, and I think it’s DEFF a match. Lol don’t worry so much about your GPA, though. Just make sure that your grades from this semester will being it up at least a tad. And remember, you’re a CA resident, so your chances are wayyy better.

Yeah, being a cali resident helps loooooooots.
I mean, your scores for APs are a little low, but the fact that you’ve taken all the honors and AP classes you can is going to look good, and your hours at the hospital look great.
Overall, I’d say high match
Chance me back?

I believe you will get accepted, but like others say…just do it and see, many colleges such as this one can deny people with even better results than you.

none of your ec’s really matter, dude. you need internships/research if you want to get in with those ap grades. Averaging a 3.6 and trying to get into berkely is like trying to get into mit without research. you need some bomb ass ec’s to pull it off.
