Nobody is applying to college at my school

We use naviance and this is the last three years of applications to UCLA. I find it really interesting that this year less people applied than the previous 3 years- especially significantly less than last year. Would this help my chances at the UC?
I guess a follow up question is if i am competing against people in my school or district or state (im a california resident)

I can’t offer much of a response to your actual posed question, but your topic title is rather misleading. “Nobody is applying to college at my school” you say, but you’re only discussing how there are significantly fewer people applying to a particular school than in prior years in your actual post.

You may want to graph these data to better see the trends. The same number of students are applying this year as in 2012 (essentially). Notice that over one and a half times as many were admitted in 2013 as 2012, even though there was only a ~10% increase in applicants. I think your sample size is too small to draw any detailed conclusions, though I would expect to see roughly 10 - 15 students admitted from your school this year, in keeping with the data. And, yes, you are mainly competing state-wide for a spot, though there is ELC to try to include all California schools. You are not competing for spots within your school, city, or region.

Are you sure your Naviance stats are up to date? My D’s HS has Naviance but it seems very unreliable. I don’t think the GCs actually update it. I think the numbers reflect only what students bother to enter.
