The College apps increase list!

<p>Brown went from 18,319 (last year) to 19,000+ this year. They haven't released exact numbers yet.</p>

<p>Just heard yesterday from the President of Carnegie Mellon that apps increased 30% this year!</p>

<p>Colby up by 9%</p>

<p>Ohio State University--not sure how much they are up but they are telling applicants they better have a back up plan.</p>

<p>This is a year that many have said would be the toughest as far as competition. I believe this trend will continue for a few more years. This means not even your state U is safe.</p>

<p>Penn State was up to 40,000 applications by November 30th. Didn't give a % increase, though.</p>

<p>ANyone know about Notre Dame in Indiana?</p>

<p>ND had a 1200+ increase in early applications this year. 3841 were received, 1575 were rejected and 680 deferred to regular admissions and 1586 offered admission. Average ACT was 32.7 for admitted, average SAT 1442, top 3% of the class.</p>

<p>Wow. Thanks. I guess I will have to pray that my D is one of the few "all-around" outstanding applicants who does not necessarily have spectacular test scores...sigh.</p>

<p>Harvey Mudd's apps increased 15%.</p>

<p>I've read on the UC boards that all the UCs except SC, went up.</p>

<p>UCLA received over 50,000 in apps for 2007. Does that make it number one in apps?</p>

<p>The Boston College "Heights" student newspaper reported today that BC's apps went from 26,500 last year to nearly 29,000 this year. They didn't have all the hard numbers in, but that was the number of apps that Director of Admissions John Mahoney said they were approaching.</p>

<p>The number of freshmen applying to Binghamton University is up 23 percent -- to 21,726 -- from this time last year, university officials said.</p>

<p>Where are you all finding this information? I didn't know it had been released yet ...</p>

<p>As to where is all this info coming from--various newspapers, college/local/national, various websites,etc. you can google class of 2011 applications increase to try and retrieve daily news releases.</p>

<p>Colorado--Boulder 12% increase in apps, reducing admitted freshman class size</p>

<p>Wisconsin system--up 3%</p>

<p>Clemson--currently up to 13150 apps, expecting 1000 more by due date of 5/1.</p>

<p>this new age of apps is going to be a terrific source of revenue for all the third party business analyst firms.</p>
