There's a lot of talk about Asian parents being tough on their children in terms of academic achievement - but I've found that a lot of my Chinese and Viet friends have experiences that are very similar (and in many instances, less extreme) than my own experience with an Arab father.

Do any of you have "tiger parents" that aren't Asian?

I’m Asian, but my parents aren’t tiger parents. I found that a lot of my friends with tiger parents did really well in elementary and middle school, but burned out in high school. Not sure if my post helps doh.

My mom’s a Chinese immigrant but pretty mellow (she used to be a lot more tiger-mom-ish). On the other hand, my non-Asian (white) friend has a pretty extreme tiger mom, kind of like how my mom was when I was in elementary/middle school.

My Mom is not Asian, but she is a tiger mom when it comes to golf and school. Other wise she is nice. She also helps my friends, many of whom have no support at home.
