Hello, i have recently been accepted to Penn under the ED agreement but I'm in desperate need of advice. My mother and i have already filled out our CSS Profile and are working on the Penn Financial Aid Supplement, However, Penn requires the submission of a noncustodial parent profile as well. The problem is my parents have been divorced for about 10 years now and my father is very much estranged. I tried to contact him, but he refuses to assist us in anyway financially, nor will he divulge financial information or the tax forms necessary to complete the noncustodial parent profile. Therefore, my concern is what can i do about this, i am a first generation college student and my mother and father refuse to work something out. Please and thank you for your time.

Contact Fin Aid office. What you describe is, sadly, not unheard of. Best of luck to you and enjoy your time in Philly!

Your situation is an exact replica of mine, down to the same details and conversations. I contacted the Financial Aid office and they asked me to fill out a Non-Custodial PROFILE Waiver form and then they asked me to attach a letter describing the situation from someone who is familiar with it, like a family friend. They processed it and there were no issues at all.

Really Emblem101? That gives me hope that my situation may work out as well. It’s comforting to know that other people have been through the same situation and made it out alright. So should i just send Penn financial services an email after the holidays describing my situation or should i personally call and contact them? Also I’m very it worked out for you and everything worked out alright.

I would call the SFS office on January 2nd at 9AM when they open and they will tell you exactly what forms to fill out and how to proceed. IT would be faster than doing it by email.
