Non-direct admit to Kelley

How difficult is it to get into Kelley if you are not accepted as a direct admit? My understanding is that if I attend IUB as a freshman and make grades of B or above I will be accepted as a sophomore after applying in the spring? Any advice or comments are greatly appreciated. Also, would being in a business related FIG help?

To get into Kelley you need a B in every single class. B-'s don’t count as B’s…and no matter how well you do in other classes, one B- or lower is enough to do you in. Also withdrawals aren’t very favorable either. Now if you make just one mistake you will most likely get deferred, not rejected, (basically you’ll get one extra semester to prove yourself). So basically just be very careful with every course you take and make sure you do your best.

And yes you will be applying in April of your freshman year, and will know of your admissions decision sometime around June.

A business related FIG won’t be helpful for admissions, but you will meet people with the same major…thus you will have friends taking the same classes…which could be beneficial for studying/homework.

The cutoff GPA is around a 3.2 to get in, and you need B’s or better in the I-Core pre reqs (so do well in BUS-A 100, BUS-K 201, ECON-E 201, BUS-X 104). As long as you get that gpa or higher and get B’s or better on the classes I listed (along with any other i-core pre req’s you decide to take), you will be fine.

Make sure that you are able to register for all of the classes you will need to transfer into Kelley…sometimes easier said than done.
