OK, so there are many people here who do horrible in freshman HS year including me. However, they improve greatly in the next 2 or 3 years. I'm pretty sure a lot of us get so much worries, stress, and most of all regret from that year.
Can we make a list of top colleges that takes almost no consideration in that year?
Just so some stress relieved.. i guess for me anyways
Some colleges to start off

Look, the admissions officers aren't blind. Just because they don't calculate a certain year of classes into your grade point average doesn't mean that you slide freshman year. Granted, they'll give you a bit more leniency if you had trouble the first year (the transition from middle school to high school isn't easy) but you are still expected to perform up to par, even in 9th grade!

I totally agree with tlaktan...its not like your freshman year disappears! If your grades aren't very good, don't expect to get it. It would look really weird if you like have Cs in freshman year, and then suddenly got As from then on. I don't think that it is fair to not include freshman grades. What about the people who did overcome the transition, and did well? Not fair, then again life isn't. :-)

Freshman year, for a lot of my friends also, was tough. And why is it wierd for grades to jump from C's to A's? Family divorce troubles, death, etc. in Freshman year can have a significant effect on grades. How a life's situation effects a human being is different, and shouldn't effect merits. I mean, some people can handle family troubles pretty well, while others are devastated, and they can't really help themselves.

But I DO AGREE with the part that, your grades are still RIGHT THERE in front of them, and that can have some tipping effects, but not at all much. (That is, if they "claim" to not look at your freshmen grades.)

really...
well in my case, this was my freshman year ( a crappy one too)
Geometry C/A
SPanish I A/A
ENglish I A/A
Biology A/A
Honors world history B/B
total GPA for freshman year 3.7 weighted 3.5 unweighted.
cmon...with those freshman grades, i still got into many good colleges (USC, UCLA, UCB, etc.)

well my soph was straight A's with 2 AP and gpa was 4.8 for dat year
junior was one B to have 4.91 for that year.
and my cumlative GPA was a 4.5 or 4.4 ish.

see..even with a Sh1tty freshman, my soph. was a comeback. if this happened, freshman hardly affects anyone. i mean cmon...people take freshman way to seriously. hardly affects anyone's chances unless you have tons of D', C's or F's

I disagree with Tami. All those events that you listed could've affected you somewhere in your life not in your freshman year. I know what you are trying to bring up, but I don't think that you're valid...that isn't a strong enough reason to not look at freshman grades.

tlqkf2002 ..u realize that dat GPA in my school was in the 5th decile...then it took me till junior year to get in the 1st decile. ALL I AM TRYIGN TO SAY IS COLLEGES DO NOT TAKE FRESHMAN SERIOUSLY. My gosh. ppl are crying over things they shouldnt worry about.
