I've heard that sometimes a low freshman GPA can actully work out better than a high freshman GPA if your grades skyrocket sophmore/junior/senior years. Going from a 3.9, 3.7, 3.5, 3.4 might actully come off worse than a
3.0, 3.3, 3.5, 3.7 because the upward trend says a lot.

Michigan recaculates your GPA with only soph and junior year grades from academic classes.

Stanford also does not care about freshman grades.

Other schools will note them, but if you have an upward trend (as I do), you're in much better shape than those kids who start out as #1 and end up with 3.0's their junior year because they can't handle it.
