How good of a chance do non-Haas students have of enrolling in upper division UGBA courses?

For instance, I'm interested in taking UGBA 101A and a couple of other UGBA courses. I understand that UGBA 101A is a requirement for Haas students so the class is probably reserved for Haas students who get first priority, then opened for remaining majors. With the onset of budget cuts, etc, I don't know how good of a chance I still have of enrolling in the course.

Anyone with experience?

Thanks!

Why do you want to take UGBA 101A? I think that Econ 100A would be a better choice for Microeconomics.

The chance of getting in a Haas course depends on how popular it is, but unfortunately I don’t know about 101A. There seems to be multiple lectures (fall only) so you might have a fairly good chance. You could also ask the person who handles the Haas waitlists. I don’t know her name but you can ask by calling the Haas undergrad office.

I have a non-business major friend in 101A. As for the 102 classes, you should have a better chance getting into them. A lot of non-majors take the accounting classes. However, for the smaller 110+ classes (like UGBA 160), you’ll have the hardest time getting into those since they’re super small compared to the classes with 100+ people.

If you really want to learn econ., take Econ 100A and B instead.

if you’re an econ major and thinking about taking ugba 101a in place of the micro theory classes, you can’t anymore. you HAVE to take econ 100a or 101a
